what is Truth?

October 31, 2010

Every being searches for truth-it seems to be part of our nature to do so. Our current stay has been filled with fascinating discussions on just that-what is ‘Truth’? Conversation topics have included lifestyles, philosophy, quantum mechanics, spirituality and nutrition. (After much debate the conclusion to the latter became “well, we all have to die of something!” :P)

Every mealtime is accompanied by a discourse on how christianity is for the ignorant, how Jesus used herbs to heal and not supernatural power, and how tarot, pendulums, and energy healers are the new truth. It is quite a reality check to leave the Bible-belt of the south and come to a land where so far we have not met a single Christ follower, to where we are now the minority. We have learned a lot since we got to Clive & Eva’s home outside of Katikati. We have encountered a myriad of information and differing viewpoints, as well as accrued information from sources such as What The Bleep Do We Know? and Don Tolman’s Farmacist Desk Reference. Admidst the multitude of concepts cluttering our minds, the Lord brought clarity through the following verses.

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Phillipians 4:7

“Ever since the creation of the world His eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made so they are without excuse: for though they know God, they do not honor Him as God or give thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools.”

Romans 1:20-22

“Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?”

1 Corinthians 1:20

and finally

“For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, despicable, hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” Titus 3:3-5

We ask that you pray along with us for rebirth and renewal for everyone we encounter.

Also, please pray that we are given the strength, love, and words, to stand for what we believe in and not be swayed by everything we may be taking in.

thank you and lots of love,

a+j

A & J, hold fast to that which you have been taught and know in your hearts to be true. Hang onto Jesus and His Word like never before and rely heavily upon Him (and each other). Know that YOU are the light in the darkness now that your world so desperately needs. Don’t let that light falter. Burn brighter and brighter, BurNZ!!! Much love from home…
